Albeniz – Cordoba*
Instrumentation: Fl Ob CA 2Cl 2Hn 2Bn
Duration: 6½ minutes
Comments: A gentle piece depicting a summer evening in Cordoba. Makes good contrasting work in a nonet concert. It uses a cor anglais instead of the 2nd oboe.

Dohnanyi – Intermezzo
Instrumentation: Fl 2Ob 2Cl 2Hn 2Bn
Duration: 4 minutes
Comments: A lively scherzo-like piece. Quite tricky if played up to tempo.

Dvorįk – From the Bohemian Forest - By the Black Lake*
Instrumentation: Fl 2Ob 2Cl 2Hn 2Bn
Duration: 4 minutes
Comments: The second of the set of 6 piano duets called 'From the Bohemian Forest'. A slow one with a lovely horn tune!

Dvorįk – From the Bohemian Forest - From Troublous Times*
Instrumentation: Fl 2Ob 2Cl 2Hn 2Bn
Duration: 4 minutes
Comments: The sixth of the set of 6 piano duets called 'From the Bohemian Forest'. The middle section tune will be familiar to those who know the 4th Symphony.

Dvorįk – From the Bohemian Forest - In the Spinning Room*
Instrumentation: Fl 2Ob 2Cl 2Hn 2Bn
Duration: 4½ minutes
Comments: The first of the set of 6 piano duets called 'From the Bohemian Forest'.

Dvorįk – From the Bohemian Forest - In Wait*
Instrumentation: Fl 2Ob 2Cl 2Hn 2Bn
Duration: 3 minutes
Comments: The fourth of the set of 6 piano duets called 'From the Bohemian Forest'. "At the hunting stand".

Dvorįk – From the Bohemian Forest - Silent Woods*
Instrumentation: Fl 2Ob 2Cl 2Hn 2Bn
Duration: 3½ minutes
Comments: The fifth of the set of 6 piano duets called 'From the Bohemian Forest'. Another slow one and quite well-known as a cello solo I believe (I saw it described somewhere as "semi-familiar"!).

Dvorįk – From the Bohemian Forest - Walpurgis Night*
Instrumentation: Fl 2Ob 2Cl 2Hn 2Bn
Duration: 4 minutes
Comments: The third of the set of 6 piano duets called 'From the Bohemian Forest'. A wild one, as you would expect from the title!

Dvorįk – From the Bohemian Forest*
Instrumentation: Fl 2Ob 2Cl 2Hn 2Bn
Duration: 23 minutes
Comments: A set of 6 pieces - see individual entries for details. These can be purchased separately but are also available more cheaply as a bound set. Good value!

Dvorįk – Slavonic Dance No. 46/2
Instrumentation: Fl 2Ob 2Cl 2Hn 2Bn
Duration: 4 minutes
Comments: Published by June Emerson

Flotow – Martha Overture
Instrumentation: Fl 2Ob 2Cl 2Hn 2Bn
Duration: 6½ minutes
Comments: Makes a good opener for a concert.

Gabriel-Marie – La Cinquantaine*
Instrumentation: Solo DB 2Ob 2Cl 2Hn 2Bn
Duration: 4 minutes
Comments: Arranged for the Budapest Wind Ensemble as a double-bass solo plus wind octet. There is an alternative version for octet with a solo bassoon (see octets), parts for which are included to allow either version to be played.

Haydn – 'Now vanish ...' from Creation*
Instrumentation: Fl 2Ob Cl BHn(or Cl) 2Hn 2Bn
Duration: 4 minutes
Comments: This chorus works well on the nonet. One of the clarinet parts was originally written for basset horn and this part is included.

Offenbach – Orpheus Overture
Instrumentation: Fl 2Ob 2Cl 2Hn 2Bn
Duration: 7 minutes
Comments: Lots of well-known tunes including the can-can. Goes down well. (Except, as we discovered, in French monasteries!)

Saint-Saėns – Suite from The Carnival of the Animals*
Instrumentation: Fl(P) 2Ob 2Cl(2nd=BHn) 2Hn 2Bn DB    , , , ,
Duration: 8 minutes
Comments: 5 movements. Down as a "nonet" but the bass is essential. The basset horn is used in The Swan and can be replaced by a bassoon.

Strauss J. – Radetzky March*
Instrumentation: P 2Ob 2Cl 2Hn 2Bn DB(opt.)
Duration: 3 minutes
Comments: I think we all know this one.
